What to expect

Acclimation day at Philmont Base Camp. Get medical recheck done, see the museum, learn the place. The altitude is already working on you — drink water, move easy, and go to sleep early.

Drink more water than you think you need. At 6,500 ft, dehydration hits faster than at home. You may feel a little off — that is normal and temporary.

Crew notes

  • Hydrate all day. Altitude starts working on you before the trail does.
  • If you have an inhaler, EpiPen, allergy medicine, prescription medicine, or other required medication, keep it organized and ready for medical recheck.
  • Sleep matters tonight.

Crew leader notes

Watch for

  • Medical form or medication surprises discovered at recheck
  • Doing too much today and burning energy before the trek
  • Late bedtime

Crew leader focus

Keep the day calm. Get medical recheck done. Use the museum and Villa tour to build meaning.
